A Website as a Living Collaboration

A website gets to be more than a digital destination—it’s a space to connect.
To share not only the tangible resources we grow and create, but also the unseen ones—the purpose, the beauty, the care—that live inside each of us. It’s an answer to a deeper call: to contribute to something regenerative, to bring humans together in a way that supports us all.

But only if you build it that way. And I only build sites like this. Real. Human. Thoughtful. Beautiful.

This particular site is where farmers and florists come together—a symbiotic relationship rooted in creativity, stewardship, and community care. It’s both a love letter and a strategic act. A sacred offering that’s also a smart business decision.

You might not think of a website as a creative and relational catalyst, but that’s exactly what it can be. It’s a container where we practice connection—between people, values, and ideas—and bring those connections to life through words, imagery, and design.

At its best, a website isn’t just where people find you.
It’s where they belong.
And that’s where connection begins.

What We Talked About

What we’re creating together isn’t just a website — it’s the workhorse of the project.
It’s where the connection between farmers and florists becomes visible, functional, and alive.

We talked about how many people want access to fresh, locally-grown flowers — and how this website could make that easier, more sustainable, and more relational for everyone involved.

The Great Lakes Flower Guild will become both a marketplace and a movement: a space where 10 farms can share weekly inventory, florists can order directly, and the community can see what’s blooming in real time.
It’s a place for commerce, collaboration, and creativity to come together — beautifully.

We’ll also explore ways to invite others into the vision through membership and education, making the guild not just a business, but a living network of people who believe in buying locally, growing with care, and supporting one another.

How We’ll Work Together

This project will unfold over three months, moving through three distinct but connected phases:

1. Understanding the People
We’ll start by getting to know the humans this project serves — the farmers, the florists, and the community members who will interact with the site. We’ll look closely at what they need, how they use technology, and how we can make their experience feel natural and inspiring. This will help us understand the scope before we get to excited about design.

2. Understanding the Intention
Next, we’ll get clear on the deeper “why.” What do we want this site to stand for? What experience do we want it to create for everyone who visits or participates? We’ll define the story, values, and voice of the Great Lakes Flower Guild, so the brand and website express the heart of the work.

3. Building & Bringing It All Together
Once we’ve gathered everything we need, I’ll step into design and development mode — crafting the brand visuals, refining the user experience, and building the website structure so that everything works smoothly, looks cohesive, and reflects your shared intention.

What Happens Next

We’ll officially begin this three-month collaboration on December 1st, with our goal to launch the new Great Lakes Flower Guild website by the end of February—right in time for tulip season and your spring gathering. We’ll likely have an option for folks to start signing up ahead of time, but for full functionality, we’ll wait to launch all elements until we’re certain everything is ready.

Our first meeting will be on December 1st, where we’ll come together to align on vision, priorities, and structure.
Before that, I’ll be sending some homework and reflection prompts within on week of payment. This will help you both gather details, clarify decisions, and fact-find in preparation for our first session.

Here’s a look at our working rhythm:

  • Now → Payment & Onboarding
You’ll receive an agreement and invoice to make everything official. Once payment is received, I’ll send over your prep materials.

  • December → Discovery & Direction (Month 1)

    • Kickoff meeting: December 1st

    • Two follow-up meetings to dive deeper into people, process, and intention.

    • Between meetings, I’ll be gathering notes, ideas, and inspiration from our conversations to shape the creative brief.

  • January → Design & Build (Month 2)

    • I’ll step into design and development, keeping you updated on progress through shared visuals and written updates.

    • Optional mid-month check-in to ensure everything feels aligned.

    • I’ll present a rough draft of the site for us all to have feedback around.

  • February → Refinement & Launch (Month 3)

    • Refining any of the functions, making sure we’re all feeling good about launch.

    • Final review meeting and walkthrough of the new site.

    • Site launch and celebration at month’s end.

This flow keeps things structured yet creative—allowing space for both collaboration and artistry.

Once the agreement and payment are complete, we’ll set everything in motion.
